A New "Video Chick"
Monday, March 24, 2008 Hello Everyone. I hope you all had a very nice Easter weekend. A bit cold for outdoor weddings. Brrrrr. We didn’t have a wedding this weekend, but I assure you, we are staying very busy with our videos. And we have some great weddings coming up soon. This is one reason that Lynette decided we needed more help around here. That’s where Kelsey comes in.
Unlike everyone else who works at McNeal Video, Kelsey isn’t related to us. BUT, she is the daughter of one of Lynette’s BFF from high school, which is nearly the same thing as being related.
I am not sure what Kelsey’s official title is, but she is sort of Lynette’s Girl Friday. Kelsey is going to help out at many of our weddings. Let’s face it, neither Lynette or I are getting any younger and, sorry Amanda, but neither are you. Running up and down stairs and up and down hills while carrying 20 pounds of camera equipment takes it toll on our poor old knees. Kelsey has fresh young knees. She is currently a sophomore in high school, so we figure we'll get a couple of good years out of her before she heads off to college. :)
Kelsey also has a great eye and is going to be behind the camera at times. For instance, Lynette may need to start setting up the audio during a photo shoot, Kelsey will take over the camera for Lynette while she does that. There are countless times before the wedding that any one of us need someone to watch the camera for a few minutes while we work on something else, and Kelsey will be a big help with this.
Another thing I’m looking forward to is something that I NEVER anticipated. I was reminded of this at the wedding we did earlier this month with Jamie and Justin. And while this could be a delicate subject. I will treat it with as much care a possible, BUT LYNETTE IS DEAF!!!!! Well, not really, but she doesn't hear as well as she use to. She blames her hearing deficiency on all the hours spent in front of loud music at receptions and wearing headphones while editing video. Yeah yeah. Whatever. All I know is that I’ll be riding in the car with her and be talking away, and Lynette will turn to me and say, “What?” So at our last wedding I learned that if I’m a few feet away from Lynette and want to ask or tell her something, I just say to Kelsey, “Kelsey, would you tell Lynette yada yada yada?” And Kelsey does, and Lynette gives me the answer or whatever I need. Finally! I can talk to my sister without having to yell across the room and she STILL not hear me!
But back to Kelsey. She’s not only helping out at weddings, but she is helping Lynette at the studio by doing things that have to be done but take up Lynette’s time. For instance, Kelsey can capture video to be logged, scan photo’s for montages, help with paperwork….all things that have to be done, but Lynette can train Kelsey to do them so she can spend more time doing the things that only she can do.
We are happy to have Kelsey working with us. So at our next wedding, if you see a tall young woman helping me, Amanda, or Lynette -- that will be Kelsey.
It’s going to be a great year for weddings. But for now, it’s time for bed.
