No Wedding For Us This Past Weekend

How did everyone like the snow we got this past weekend? In March, no less! This really makes me laugh because Lynette always says that we won’t do weddings in January or February because of the chance of snow. (Even though we have done a wedding in February). And here it is March, we had a wedding last weekend and the weather was fine, but it snows this weekend. What would we have done if we had a wedding this past weekend when it snowed? Amanda and I would have carried Lynette kicking and screaming from the house, and once at the church or wherever, I’m sure Lynette would have calmed down. Lynette comes by it natural though. Our mother doesn’t like to get out in the snow either.

But why didn’t we have a wedding this past weekend? And are we upset about it? Well, the answer to the first question is that we don’t schedule wedding’s every weekend, and the answer to the second questions, is “Nope”.

Unlike alot of videography businesses, we don’t measure our success by how many videos we can crank out in a year. Rather, we go first and foremost for quality. We know that if we had a wedding every weekend we couldn’t produce the quality of video that we’re known for. We tell our brides to expect delivery in about 4-6 months.  If we had too many weddings in one year, you wouldn’t get your video back until around the year 2015!  We might have a few upset brides if we did that!   :-0

Lynette tried to explain how long it takes to produce a video on our blog on the 'Where Are You on the List'  page. She even made a pie chart to show how long she spends on each step of the production of a video. Boy, did I give her heck for doing a PIE CHART!  I prefer the way Ashley explained it when she met with Lynette for AshleysBrideGuide, and you can read about it here.

Now, since I don’t do the editing, I would enjoy shooting a wedding every weekend.  I LOVE shooting weddings! But unfortunately I have to go along with Lynette and just do what we can. She can’t work 24/7 editing videos, although she comes pretty close to it. And if it weren’t for Amanda helping with editing two days a week, Lynette wouldn’t be able to do the extra things, such as music videos and montages, much less meeting with brides, meeting with other professionals in the wedding business, and in general, running the business.

And we REFUSE to source out our videos for editing, or hire contract labor for any part of our videos.

Don’t get me wrong, we do like to have a healthy number of weddings during the year, and so far we have been fortunate enough to meet our goals every year. And 2008 is no different. We’re closing in on our goal but we still have open weekends available, so give Lynette a call and book your weekend before its taken by another bride. We sure do hate it when two brides want the same date and it’s already taken.  And believe me, that happens more than we like it to.

And with that I will close. This was my least favorite weekend of the year. The “Spring Ahead” weekend? I like the “Fall Back” much better. I want my extra hour of sleep!!!!!

So it’s REALLY time to go to bed now----

I LOVE the new part of the blog. You are too funny and I especially loved the post before this one. Also your graphic at the bottom looks just like you. Impressive.
